How I decorate our home

Dear Friends ~

Today is going to be a bit of an incite on how I decorate our home.

OK here we go ~

Here we see the mantle completed, but how did I get it that way?  Well it was not just put there, one, two, three.  I’ll put a few things that I like in place, and then I step back, and look.  Sometimes I like what I see, but most times I have to walk away then enter the room again (this gives me a fresh look) I move things around until it looks just the way I want it to look.

This can take a couple of minutes, and even when I think its good, I’m still tweaking it for a few day.

In this picture there was no garland.  (The little flower buds in the background)

Just putting the garland, and a string of small lights makes it pop when dusk set in.

Adding height, and a pop of color will also help.

Most of the colors are cream, and a bit of brown & beige (the angels) so adding the red clock and the dark blue bear brings in the colors from the room.

Adding texture to the mantel with the tin candle holder adds dimension ~

Hope this can help you with your mantel, or anything you are trying to create.

Have a fantastic weekend.

Much love,

New & Improved Cabinet

Good Morning Friends ~

I posted a few days ago the sweet cabinet I received for Valentine’s Day ~

I have been looking at it for days, and thinking something is not right ~ Sooooooo  this is what I did ~

Here is the before ~

NEW CABINET 2

Looks good, but here is the After ~

Pete found these light that run by batteries, but has a switch just like a light switch that turn it on and off.  I love this concept.  Also I had a piece of garland left over and it was a perfect fit for the top of the cabinet.  I also changed out the inside.  I was afraid the dishes might slip and break.  These are my favorite dishes, and couldn’t have that happen.

Here are a few more pictures.~

Have a wonderful day.

Much love,

Rose

Neat & Clean Dining Room

Happy Sunday Everyone ~

I know some of you reading this post will say “Neat & Clean” isn’t it always that way.  Well the answer is NO not always, especially when I am doing a project or sewing – Yes the Dining Room table is my sewing table.

A new look for the Family Room

Good Morning Everyone ~

Happy New Year to you all – Hope this brings you an amazing 2016 –

Our Christmas holiday was wonderful.  Having the girls, and Brian was the icing on the cake.

It all goes so quickly and then the let down sets in.  Saying Goodbye to the girls was very difficult, but we will be seeing them real soon.

As we enter into 2016 ~ the house needed something different, something fresh.

Now to the new look in the Family Room ~

After the holidays there is so much to do.  Putting away all the decorations and trying to get the house back in some type of order.

Pete & I attempted to do this last weekend.  It took 2 days to complete.  After looking at the Family Room I decided it needed a little change.  So here we go ~

new 2016-7

This is where the Christmas tree was ~ after removing the tree it looked very empty, so had to move things around a bit.

I love how the chair look in the corner.  Makes the room look so cozy.

Here are more pictures of the Family Room

And now for the mantel ~

I will be posting another room tomorrow.  I think the Dining Room

Have an amazing day.

Much love,

Our New Master Bedroom

Good Morning Friends ~

master 13

Today I want to share our new Master Bedroom ~

My dear friend Barbara resized the dust ruffle so it would fit on the new king bed – I’m still getting use to seeing such a big bed when I walk into the room, and I do this often, because I love how it came out.

We purchased everything at Wayfair.  They are so reasonably priced.

The box spring – mattress – headboard – rug – coverlet – & sheets – all came from Wayfair.com

I love the comforter and pillows so that was going to stay, I had to figure out how to incorporate a queen comforter to a king bed – I used a king coverlet and placed the comforter at the bottom of the bed for now.

I will be redoing the comforter in the spring – I am going to use the material for the original comforter, and add red & cream ticking and blue & cream ticking and make a quilt – (this should be interesting)

I also painted my dresser & the armoire and the table you see to the right in Annie Sloan “Old White” – that’s a story in itself – I will share this in another post.

The end result – it’s beautiful and I love it.

Here are so other pictures of the room ~

Enjoy !!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Much Love,

Rose

New Tool Box

Good Morning my friends ~

Before Thanksgiving comes & goes, I must share this sweet tool box I purchased from Magnolia Market –

Magnolia Market is an amazing store in Waco, Texas – the home of Chip & Joanna aka “Fixer Upper”~ If you do not know about these two wonderful beings, you should tune into their show on HGTV ~

The tool box I purchased from them ~

Here is where you can purchase it https://shop.magnoliahomes.net/collections/all/products/wood-planter-basket

Just a few more shots of this sweet box ~

I have this on top of my refrigerator and will remain there ~

I will add Christmas decorations at Christmas ~ Fall decorations in the Fall ~ Spring decorations at Easter, and so on.

I love having something that I can switch out from season to season.

This arrangement cost $0.00 because I used things I already had.  The same will happen with the Christmas arrangement.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving with those you love, and treasure ~

Be grateful everyday.

Much love,

Rose

Pantry Now Baking Station

Hi Friends ~

I am so excited to share my new baking station ~

It all started with a vision – I looked at so many pictures on Pinterest & Houzz –  I had a space in my kitchen use for the pantry, but I just kept filling it up with all kinds of things, some things I never used – I really wanted a baking station, so my wonderful husband created this for me.  I had the vision, and he build it for me.

The cart was purchased at WayFair.com

Now totally completed ~ It is just want I had in mind.    A huge Thank You to Pete for creating this special place for me.

It also give the kitchen a larger feel.

Took the door off ~ now it looks like it has always been there.

Put a piece of pegboard on the right side – It’s such a great invention – holds many things that were inside the pantry – The small shelves 18″ long are what made the space.

I am so happy with how this all turned out.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Much love,

Rose

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Time

Hi All ~

Hope you are enjoying your day today ~

I purchased these 4 herb boxes through ~ Decor Steals ~  www.decorsteals.com  a few weeks ago.  They were delivered on Thursday.  I was so excited to get them in just the perfect place.

I noticed them on Pinterest, and loved how they were displayed, but everyone home is different.  This is why it took me a few tries before I found the right spot for them.

I think they look great on my small sofa table, because I can keep them all together ~ Two on the bottom, and two on top.

I’m very happy with how they came out.

Just added the faux plants and a few little faux flowers ~

Have a wonderful day.

Much love,

Rose
