Sunday Reflection 2/5

beatitudes-3

Good Morning Friends ~

Today we talk about the first Beatitude ~~~

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

What does this mean ~

“Poor in spirit” means to be humble. Humility is the realization that all your gifts and blessings come from the grace of God. To have poverty of spirit means to be completely empty and open to the Word of God. When we are an empty cup and devoid of pride, we are humble. Humility brings an openness and an inner peace, allowing one to do the will of God. He who humbles himself is able to accept our frail nature, to repent, and to allow the grace of God to lead us to conversion.

It is pride, the opposite of humility, that brings misery. For pride brings anger and the seeking of revenge, especially when one is offended. If every man were humble and poor in spirit, there would be no war!

I have been coming across a few of Mother Theresa’s quotes and here is one on “The poor in Spirit”

How powerful is this !!!!  I LOVE HER. ~

And now just a sweet little picture I found to make you smile.

Update/Adding to Family Room

Good Morning ~

So I have been adding to the Family Room ~

Yes!!! so excited the rug came the other day.  We purchased a 3’x5′ rug because it sits on top of another rug, and we wanted just a little bit of color ~ I love it – just enough color.

Also I added a little ruffle to the runner on the table.

Completing the Family Room

Hi All ~

We are almost finished with the Family Room ~

I am loving the blue & cream and removing all the floral ~ with just a few touches of red.

What is it about redoing a room – it seems like it always happens right after the Christmas decorations get put away.

As you can see we removed the ottoman and replaced it with the new black coffee table.  Also the rug was removed.  We purchased a new rug –

Sunday Reflection 1/29/17

Jesus Preaching the Sermon on the Mount
Gustave Dore

Good Morning Dear Friends ~

“Beatitude is a possession of all things held to be good,
from which nothing is absent that a good desire may want.
Perhaps the meaning of beatitude may become clearer to us
if it is compared with its opposite.
Now the opposite of beatitude is misery.
Misery means being afflicted unwillingly with painful sufferings.”

I would like to talk with you for the next 8 weeks about the 8 Beatitudes.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
While the Beatitudes of Jesus provide a way of life that promises salvation, they also provide peace in the midst of our trials and tribulations on this earth.

How appropriate for this time in our lives.

I wish you a beautiful Sunday.

Much love,

Rose

Window Treatments & the Family Room

Hi Friends~

Sorry its been awhile since I posted anything onto my blog, but I have been recovering from surgery.

Everything is good, just taking a bit of time to heal.

We just took our Christmas tree down a few days ago, and you know how that goes.  Everything looks so empty.

So here we go again – rearranging furniture – Of course I could not touch anything.  Just told Pete where to put the furniture, and my saint of a husband made it look just right.

So this is what the Family Room looks like now.

Oh yes – new to the space is my recliner in the corner.

family-room

We ordered a new coffee table.

new-coffee-table

The ottoman will be leaving thank goodness.  The floral print has seen better day.  It is about 13 years old.  With the ottoman leaving, I now have to do new window treatments, as you can see the ottoman & valance are the same material.

Which brings me to why I started this post ~

I would like something totally different ~

I would have to say my style is French Country.

So I began looking on Pinterest for different curtain ideas.

I did purchase material from Shabby Fabrics, (below) and I have the original lace curtains to work with as well, but not sure what I am going to create.

new-fabric-for-curtains

Here are some of the curtains I like.

They all seem to be the same type of look, but with 3 different styles I am sure Barbara will have some great ideas.

Barbara is my friend who does all my window treatments.

Wish me luck.  When all is finished I will be posting the finished room.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Much love,

Rose

Mary did you know

Dear Friends ~

When shopping in a little store in PA “The Potting Shed” I came across this small wooden sign ~ I know this is a beautiful song ~ and needed to have this to remind me what Christmas is all about.

2016-christmas-44

Mary Did You Know

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you’ve delivered, will soon deliver you

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God

Mary did you know, Mary did you know, Mary did you know

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am

Mary did you know, Mary did you know, Mary did you know

Just needed to share this beautiful song with you all ~

My gift to you this beautiful Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you all my dear Friends.

Much love,

Rose

My sister gave me this red & white striped material when I visited her in California, I will be using it to redo a quilt for our bed, but I did use a piece for a runner for the Dining Room table.

Sunday Reflection 12/18/16

love

Good Morning dear Friends ~

The word for the 4th week of Advent is LOVE ~

I hope we come together as one nation and love one another no matter what race or gender we are.  This is what Jesus is trying to teach us.

4th-week-of-advent

Every year, Christians all over the world commemorate and reflect on our salvation story, the story of this baby boy who was born in a manger and grew as a man like anyone of us. God becoming man and chose to be born poor and simple. And this boy grew in grace and was the anointed, the messiah, the savior of the world. Christmas is an Emmanuel event, a celebration of God being with us.

What shall we do to welcome and receive Jesus again and again in our hearts? How do we celebrate the true meaning and essence of Christmas in today’s context? What is the message of Christmas in our life as a nation today? More and more, we become unconcern, indifferent and numb to the issues of the world and in our very own country. There is a prevalent fear among or people fear for their lives.

The culture of death and culture of impunity is creeping in our national system and with many people seemingly unaffected or indifferent by this reality. If Christmas is God becoming man, it means God is sharing life with us. Jesus was sent so that we will have life to its fullest. Let us therefore live life and enjoy life, and not to destroy life or end life. Let us reflect on the core message of Christmas and see the daily events in the light of grace, in the optic of unwavering love of God to us.

In these situations where there is too much pain and trauma by the hatred, violence, and injustice that we experience everyday, all the more Christians are reminded to hold on our faith and cling to hope. The birth of Jesus overcomes pain and loneliness. The birth of Jesus shows us the way to God. The birth of Jesus is the good news for the Christian world. We can start with our loving response to God’s invitation to follow Him and to do what is good and right especially in this hour of test and chaos.

Let us celebrate the love of God in our Lord Jesus Christ who has come to be with us always. May the Holy Family of Jesus Mary and Joseph inspire us always as we face the various challenges of our faith today affecting our families and communities. May our ongoing Advent preparation continue to be joyful!

As I read this today I am reminded of why Jesus was born  into our world ~ Jesus was walking the earth to teach us how to love one another, and be kind to ALL ~

I try very hard to understand why we as Americans can look the other way when others are hurting.  Please lets all be like Jesus and love one another throughout the entire year – not just at Christmas time.

Prayer for the 4th candle lighting ~
Almighty and Loving God thank you for loving us. Thank you for the.wonderful gift of salvation when you sent your only begotten Son—Jesus who became our brother, friend and savior.

May we be worthy of that love and we share that your very love with others, especially those who are unloved and deprived of your love. May this Advent season usher us to Christmas and be reminded to hare the love of God to one another through our generous sharing of life and hope

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Much love,

Rose
