Something New in the Kitchen

Happy Sunday Friends ~

You know it’s been very sunny in the morning for more than a week, and then the sun go away in the afternoon.  As I am doing the things I normally do around the house I have noticed this happening all week.   By the time I finally get going the sun is gone.  I have been seeing the house look very different on those afternoons.

I just knew I needed a change, just a small little change.  I found this beautiful little cabinet on Decor Style.  Pete is giving me for this for Valentine’s Day  ~ YEA  ~

If you know me ~ you know I usually get Christmas, Birthday, Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day & Anniversary way before that day arrives.

This time the gift I received for Valentine’s Day was only 3 weeks early.

NEW CABINET 4

I love it.  I wanted something I could hang on the wall, but living in a condo there are pipes behind this wall, and God forbid we hit one of them ~ well the lady who lives below us would have a flood.

When I received this cabinet, I loved how it looked sitting on the counter.

Here are a few more pictures.  Enjoy  ~&~

Have a wonderful Sunday

Much love,

Rose

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast

Hi Everyone ~

I found this amazing recipe on Pinterest the other day.  I can’t believe I found this now, because I was looking for something simple you could make the night before over the holidays.  This will be on our Christmas holiday table next year for sure.

oatmeal recipe 2

Here is the recipe ~

2 cups old fashioned rolled oats

1/3 cup packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon grated orange zest ( I used the whole orange for zest)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup pecans, chopped

1 cup strawberries (I used the whole container)

2 cups reduced fat (2%) milk

1 large egg

3 tablespoons butter, melted

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 banana – 1/2 inch slices

Directions ~

Heat oven to 375 degrees.  Generously spray inside of an 8″x 8″ square baking dish with cooking spray & place on a baking sheet.

In a large bowl, mix together the oats, sugar, baking powder, orange zest, cinnamon, salt, half the pecans, & half the strawberries.  Add to prepared baking dish.  Arrange the remaining strawberries, pecans on top of the oats. Then, scatter the banana slices.

In another large bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, butter and vanilla extract.  Then, pour over oats and fruit.  Gently shimmy and shake the baking dish to help the milk mixture go throughout the oats.

Bake oatmeal for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the milk mixture has set.

Serve warm ~

Enjoy it’s delicious ~ Had this for breakfast this morning.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Much love,

Rose

Neat & Clean Dining Room

Happy Sunday Everyone ~

I know some of you reading this post will say “Neat & Clean” isn’t it always that way.  Well the answer is NO not always, especially when I am doing a project or sewing – Yes the Dining Room table is my sewing table.

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 6,300 times in 2015. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

A new look for the Family Room

Good Morning Everyone ~

Happy New Year to you all – Hope this brings you an amazing 2016 –

Our Christmas holiday was wonderful.  Having the girls, and Brian was the icing on the cake.

It all goes so quickly and then the let down sets in.  Saying Goodbye to the girls was very difficult, but we will be seeing them real soon.

As we enter into 2016 ~ the house needed something different, something fresh.

Now to the new look in the Family Room ~

After the holidays there is so much to do.  Putting away all the decorations and trying to get the house back in some type of order.

Pete & I attempted to do this last weekend.  It took 2 days to complete.  After looking at the Family Room I decided it needed a little change.  So here we go ~

new 2016-7

This is where the Christmas tree was ~ after removing the tree it looked very empty, so had to move things around a bit.

I love how the chair look in the corner.  Makes the room look so cozy.

Here are more pictures of the Family Room

And now for the mantel ~

I will be posting another room tomorrow.  I think the Dining Room

Have an amazing day.

Much love,

Rose

Until we see you again

Good Morning My wonderful friends ~

We said goodbye to Kristin & Jenny on Christmas Day ~ they are beginning their journey to Los Angeles, CA.   We will miss them terribly, but it’s a new journey for them, and we wish them so much love and happiness.

They will be moving very close to Alyson and her boyfriend Brian, which makes us very happy ~

sisters

Sisters should always be close, and I know they are.  They love each other so much, and this I know for sure, because I have 7 sisters, and I know that feeling of love.

We will be visiting them every year for 1 month and this will be quality time that we spend together.

Kristin & Aly ~

I will miss you both from the bottom of my heart, but my wish for you both is to be happy with everything you chose to do in your lives.

God Bless & protect you always.

Jenny & Brian ~

Until we see each other again, I send you so much love and thank you for taking such good care of our girls.

Much love,

Mom/Rose

Awaiting our girls & Brian

The start of our Christmas 2015

christmas 3

Merry Christmas my dear friends ~

How do you spell out how much you love your children?  One can not say, because they are all so dear and precious to us.  Even when they are 35 & 29 you still see them as little girls waiting for Santa to arrive.

I miss them every day & then some.  As I begin to prepare for their arrival my heart is filled with so much joy & excitement.

Aly & Brian arrive at JFK on Tuesday morning.  They will be picked up by Kristin & Jenny – oh I forgot and Clark too.  Aly & Brian’s cat.

They go back to Kristin & Jenny’s for a couple of hours, so Clark can run around, since he was in his little crate for 6 hrs.

Then they all leave to come upstate for Christmas.  Kristin & Jenny will close the door to their first place together.  They will be moving to California the day after Christmas – Cross country adventure.

The only way I am getting through this is I know they will all be near each other that in itself make me very happy.

It will be very tough to say Good-Bye to all of them, my heart will probably sink to the floor on Christmas morning.

My prayer for them is that God will always keep them safe and that they are happy always.

Until the day after Christmas, I wish you lots of love, joy & peace in your hearts this beautiful Christmas Season.

Much love,

Rose
